Most women that schedule with me want solid guidance, information, and the truth about what they should do for their hormones. You may feel uncertain of where to even get started on this journey. There's a lot of information out there about hormones and menopause and you may be wondering which approach is best for you.


I understand that hormone shifts and changes can wreak havoc on your physical and emotional health, affecting your daily life and happiness. I also understand that you are unique, that every woman has a unique hormone profile, much like a finger print of or snowflake, no two are alike. So every patient's hormone plan is customized for the woman within.


My mission is to empower women like you to take control of your health and discover the transformative effects of balanced hormones, in peri/menopause, PCOS and more. I recommend personalized testing and treatments, that address the root cause of hormone dysfunction, helping you unlock your body's natural healing potential.

Hi, I'm Dr. Erin Thorne

A peri/menopause hormone focused doctor in Seattle, WA.

I am a firm believer of walking the walk I talk. I strive to teach, inspire, and educate my patients on whole body health, and striving for a full life with energy, vitality and joy. I lift weights, I love dance fitness, I love cooking and eating healthy whole foods. I am a mother of two girls and and two twin shih tzus boys. I am on a mission to help women thrive through the perimenopause transition or menopause stage of life...and believe that it's possible.

Who do I work with?

Ensuring we are a good fit is really important! Be sure to watch the intro video on menopause page and schedule page. Hormone replacement can get have massive improvement in symptoms but it will still only get you halfway. Here are some expectations I have of you:

In Functional Medicine the 5 Pillars of Health are the 5 areas that are foundational to creating a healthy life.  You can expect to fill out new patient forms that ask a variety of questions assessing the strength of your health pillars.

Below you will find the hormone health approaches utilized:

HRT:

Hormones decline in perimenopause and these hormones are protective for  a women's health.


 LABS:
 Lipids, thyroid, inflammation, metabolic, and a few hormones to gather baseline info. on the "soup" the hormones live in.

Imaging:
Screening exams: mammogram,  colonoscopy, pelvic US, and DEXA scan are recommended. 
 Nutrition:
 Nutrition a foundational pillar in healthy aging. Food is information and are the building blocks in your body. Emphasis on protein, complex carbs, Whole Foods. 
 Supplements:
Vitamins, minerals and herbal supplements may be recommended to replete essential nutrients, reduce symptoms, improve longevity.
Exercise:
Moving the body, maintaining muscle mass and maintaining fitness is an essential component.  Focus on body composition.

  • Costs of Service

    *Dr. Thorne can still order blood work that can be billed to insurance.

    However,  Dr. Thorne is  not in-network with any insurance companies or medicare programs. Dr. Thorne DOES offer a "Superbill" after each visit for patients to submit to insurance for partical reimbersement depending on their healthcare plan. 

    Payment is still due at time of service.

    If you are planning in using a superbill, you will want to ask your insurance company what the coverage is for an "Out-of-network provider" and what they would cover for a "99204 and/or 99214" coded visit.

    New Patient Visit (45 min.) *1 health concern: $300

    Follow-up (30 min.):  $225

  • Can Dr. Thorne be my Primary Care Doc?

    Dr. Thorne is not operating as a Primary Care Physician and has instead chosen to specialize in conditions listed above. Dr. Thorne enjoys working integratively with other practitioners to acheive your health goals. 

    Dr. Thorne requires and recommends that all patients see a PCP at least once a year for their annual phsyical since Dr. Thorne is exclusively virtual.

    Dr. Thorne can still order lab work that can billed to your insurance company even though she doesnt accept insurance.

  • Is it only Telehealth options?

    VIRTUAL TELEMEDICINE. Dr. Thorne works with all of her patients virtually. There are no in-person visits available at this time. This is part of the reason that Dr. Thorne recommends or requires that all patients have a PCP do a physical exam at least once a year. In the future Dr. Thorne plans on hosting in-person workshops for patients.

At your first visit you can expect a thorough review your health history and most importantly your health goals with Dr. Thorne.  In this first visit you will often be provided a plan for nutrition, and lifestyle modifications to implement on day one. You will also be given a lab order for deeper investigation of the root cause of your concern. Please upload any past labs or documents you would like her to review before your visit.


*60 minute new patient visits are recommended for patients with 2+ health concerns, ex; hormones and thyroid or hormones, thyroid, and digestive issues. 

*45 minute new patient visits are recommended for women that are otherwise healthy and have 1+ health concern ex; menopause HRT support.


Blood Work (billed through insurance + additional co-pay)

  • Blood Sugar panel (ex; Hga1c, Insulin, Leptin, fasting glucose)
  • Thyroid Panel (ex; TSH, FT3, FT4, RT3, Total T3, T4, Iodine, Thyroid antibodies)
  • Inflammation/Immune Panel (ex; ESR, CRP, CD57 immune, ferritin)
  • Nutrient Panel (ex; iron, zinc, magnesium, selenium, iodine, B12, B6, Folate, vitamin D)
  • Addition hormones (ex; FSH, LH, AMH, Estrone sulfate, DHEA sulfate, Prolactin)
  • Cholesterol Panel (ex; NMR lipid profile looks at size and types of cholesterol, sticky vs non-sticky)


Rates & Superbills :

Dr. Thorne does not accept insurance and is an out-of-network-provider. You can ask your insurer what they cover for an, "out of network provider using 99204 or 99214 CPT codes," often it's more than you would think. (Premera, BCBS) You will be given a superbill at the end of your visit to submit to insurance for partial reimbursement. HSA AND FSA are also accepted.

After you have selected an initial investment below you can expect to do an additional 3-month followup to tweak and monitor hormones and protocols. Depending on your response and protocol some HRT patients follow-up with $200 lab panel every 6-12 months, others more frequently that have more complicated conditions.
